One of the projects our Club initiates is a program to support refugee students who are about to enter secondary school for the first time. Our Club supports one or two students a year by paying for their school fees, books, uniform, an ipad/laptop and any other items they need for their first year of secondary school of Australia.
In 2018 we were proud to support a young man with a sight disability and we had the opportunity to meet him when he attended a meeting with his mother.
In 2019 we will support a young man from Eritrea (year 8) and a young lady from Libya (year 7). Both students attend a local high school and our Club works closely with The Migrant Centre (located in Southport) as well as the school involved.
Just another way our Clubs upholds the Rotary key areas of focus and works with those who need a hand in our community.
